Because 2 mg is a potent dose, doctors usually titrate patients slowly from lower strengths. The typical starting dose for panic disorder is 0.5 mg three times daily, with careful increases not exceeding 10 mg per day.

Patients should never self‑increase to 2 mg tablets without medical supervision. High doses carry a greater risk of sedation, coordination problems and dependence.
